I'm thinking about getting a GPU, but I'm not sure how to go about installing it. I know I would have to plug it into a PCI slot, but is that it? you just plug it in and it runs? Seems to simple. I also run Linux as my OS if that matters. Thanks for any help.

 Basicly your gpu will be part of your video card so you get a video card that you think will do what you want install card install driver and you are done.

but there are a huge range of cards and the faster ones need a pci express slot.

first what kind of system do you have?

without knowing that have no idea of were to start.

what cpu what os what motherboard how much mem and what kind

the more detailed the description of you machine the better answer we can make.
